It’s hard to believe we’re in the fall season already! This year has flown by for me and my wife Susan. Our family has experienced God’s goodness in our lives, but we’ve also heard stories of heartbreak and challenge from friends, families, and those who support the ministry of Focus on the Family Canada. As a follower of Christ, I’m thankful he is constant through every season.

With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, I encourage you to come to our Heavenly Father and bring your requests for what’s on your heart, and also to give thanks for all he has done and all he will do.

I’m excited to share a few resources to help inspire thanks. And here’s the best part: when you shop at Focus on the Family Canada, you bless families across the country by supporting our ministry. Thank you for caring for families!

Dream Brave
Do you have dreams you long to fulfill yet feel you just can’t? Author Wai Jia Tam felt that way. Today, as a multi-award-winning, international humanitarian, physician and nonprofit founder, Tam addresses the self-doubt and fear we all have. Through powerful stories, biblical insights and practical principles, she invites readers to embrace risk and push past setbacks.

Live Like a Guide Dog
Michael Hingson’s inspiring true story captivated the world when he and his guide dog, Roselle escaped the Twin Towers together on 9/11, a story that became the New York Times bestselling book, Thunder Dog. During decades of walking with guide dogs, he had learned a surprising truth that helped save his life that day: being afraid can be a positive thing, one that prepares us to deal with any situation that befalls us.

Finding the Extra in Ordinary
Author Jeff Simmons explores the extraordinary stories of people from all walks of life who have managed to transform their ordinary lives into something truly remarkable. From everyday people to celebrities, entrepreneurs and sports stars, Simmons captures the inspiring stories of those who have found the extra in ordinary.

Stories for Your Soul
Life can be hard: grief, loss, busyness, financial hardships, abuse, broken relationships and illness are just some of the difficulties we all face on a regular basis. It’s easy to lose faith in your neighbour and feel like you’re alone – but Max Lucado assures us that hope is here. Compiled from Lucado’s catalogue of treasured stories, this collection of ordinary miracles sheds light on the ways that everyday people are doing God’s work while also sharing their gifts with others.

Now and Not Yet
Too often, we feel disappointed with our “right now” – our life circumstances, our relationships, our progress, our daily grind. We want to do so many things – good, godly things – but our situations don’t allow us to step into them. Are we missing out on our own lives? Why does right now seem so far from where we really long to be? Bestselling author Ruth Chou Simons reminds us that it’s okay to not like the right now we’ve been given, but we don’t have to like it to lean in.
