Faith-building resources for the school year
It’s hard to believe we’re already in September! My wife, Susan, is welcoming her students back to school, one of our daughters just started university, and another is in the last year of high school. As a parent, I’m realizing more and more how fast time passes and our children grow up before our eyes. If you’re like me, you pray they’ll stay grounded in their faith as they take strides out of our realm of influence.
No matter what stage of parenthood (or grandparenthood) you are in, you can trust that Focus on the Family Canada is a source of biblically sound resources that will strengthen your children’s relationship with Christ.
That’s why I’m delighted to share a few offerings from our online store, which is packed with faith-building resources. While I can certainly recommend every item we carry, I want to draw your attention to these selections.
Read Again and Again Bible Storybooks
Kids need to know the Bible isn’t boring! Through colourful illustrations and creatively told Bible stories, young readers will be excited to engage with God’s Word and apply its truth to their lives. Pre-order today!
The way they learn
In this book from learning styles expert Cynthia Tobias, parents will gain a better understanding of the types of learning approaches that will help their children do better in school. Once these approaches are understood, any parent or teacher can become more effective in helping any child grasp confusing concepts, stay interested in lessons and utilize his or her greatest strengths.
Signals: How Brain Science and the Bible Help Parents Raise Resilient Children
While we can’t see the brain, it sends signals to us and those around us. Just as the colours of a traffic light send drivers a signal to go, slow down, or stop, our brains signal to our emotions and affect our behaviour toward others. Author Cherilyn Orr uses this imagery to help everyone manage their emotions. Rooted in neuroscience and the Bible, this approach can transform the relationships you have with your kids and set them on a lifelong trajectory of ever-increasing emotional intelligence.
Prayers To Share: 100 Pass-Along Lunch Box Notes
This kit gives you 100 opportunities to surprise your child with a pass-along note, perfect for lunchboxes, camp mail, or taped to the bathroom mirror or fridge. Each tear-out includes a prayer, Scripture, and a loving, just-so-you-know affirmation statement to remind the children in your life that they’re loved by God and others! The back is left blank for you to write a personal note, making it perfect for parents, guardians, or siblings to easily tear out a hope-filled message, add their own note of love, and tuck it inside a lunchbox as an exciting surprise!
I pray these resources will inspire the children and teens in your life to dig deeper into their relationship with Christ!
